A Web-Based Dashboard for Estimating the Economic and Ecological Impacts of Land Use Class Changes for Key Land Patches

Abstract The increasing pressure on land coming from the raising needs of a fast-growing population puts public and private landowners decision makers in front difficult choices concerning best use limited resources. On one hand, agricultural grassland need to be used support human food requirements. other these uses create trade-offs with ecosystem functions, assets services, such as ecological connectivity, biodiversity natural habitat maintenance. In this paper prototype web-based dashboard is presented, that aims at allowing fully-fledged calculation economic environmental between different any patch (excluding urban areas infrastructures) Grand Duchy Luxembourg. An agent-based model (ABM) coupled life-cycle assessment (LCA) runs background dashboard. allows simulation farm business revenues made by farmers every under management scenarios. Crossing information tools would also allow integrate local trade-offs, degradation habitats or not only global ones defined non-spatialized way. has potentially high value inform policy, strategies, specific actions (e.g., stewardship programs convenience condition) necessary flexibility new aspects related territorial analyses they become available.
